The specifics of how each lab actually grows cubic zirconia vary, but every single one does it by first heating up some powder of ZrO2(zirconium oxide powder).

Assisted by calcium and magnesium for stabilization, workers in the lab melt pure zirconium oxide powder. They then spend countless hours heating the concoction to a radiant 4,298 degrees Fahrenheit, causing crystals to form. This will leave the crystals to be cut in an appropriate shape.
